Rogelio Lopez

Rogelio Lopez is a Queer, Latinx immigrant Dance Artist. Over the past decade, Rogelio has been a choreographic presence throughout the California college dance scene, where he has created many works chosen to be performed at the American College Dance Association annual festivals, some of which have been presented in the gala performances and at nationals. Rogelio is currently and associate professor and the director of the MFA in Dance at St. Mary’s College of Moraga, and teaches regularly at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley. In addition to being a choreographer and dancer, Rogelio has studied and worked professionally in scenic, lighting and costume design. Rogelio holds a MFA in Dance from California State University Long Beach and has danced professionally for many wonderful contemporary dance artists including: Keith Johnson, Hope Mohr, Cathy Davalos, Mary Armentrout, Deborah Slater, Nina Haft, Randee Paufve, Andrew Merrell, Shaunna Vella, Eric Kupers,Christy Funsch and Nol Simonse. Rogelio is also the artistic director of his own company, Rogelio Lopez & Dancer, founded in 2015. In addition to his creative endeavors Rogelio is on the Board of Dancers Group, Zellerbach Family Foundation, and Shawl Anderson Dance Center.
